Intensive Outpatient Program for Newton Residents

If you live in Newton and need more support than weekly therapy, our evening IOP gives you structured addiction treatment without requiring you to step away from work, school, or family life.

We run the program three to four evenings per week from our Weston campus at 75 Norumbega Road in Weston, with convenient access from Newton via I-90. Clients receive group therapy, individual support, relapse-prevention work, dual diagnosis care, and medication support when clinically appropriate.

When Newton Residents Consider Evening IOP

Newton residents may contact Charles River Recovery when they know something needs to change. You may have tried cutting back, had difficult conversations with loved ones, and still need care that fits around work or family responsibilities.

That’s where our intensive outpatient program, or IOP, can help. It offers more structure than weekly therapy without requiring you to put your life on hold.

We run our evening IOP from our Weston facility at 75 Norumbega Road, with convenient access from Newton via I-90.

How The Evening IOP Works At Our Weston Campus

Our evening IOP runs three nights per week at our Weston facility. Sessions are scheduled after standard work hours and include therapy groups, individual appointments, clinical check-ins, and support for relapse prevention and coping skills.

Before starting, each client completes a clinical assessment. This helps determine whether IOP is the right level of care or whether detox, residential care, or day treatment should come first.

Why Newton Residents Use Our Weston Programme

Newton is east of our Weston facility, and many clients can reach the campus by taking I-90 west, depending on traffic and starting point. From Newton Centre, Newton Corner, or Newtonville, clients can take the Mass Pike west toward Weston; our campus is on Norumbega Road and minutes from I-90.

For people working in Boston or Cambridge, the route often fits naturally into the commute home, and many clients come straight from work to evening sessions.

Who Runs The Clinical Side Of The Evening IOP

Our evening IOP is supported by licensed addiction counselors, recovery specialists, and psychiatric support for medication management when needed. Groups are led by licensed addiction counselors and recovery specialists.

Clinical oversight includes our Medical Director, who is dual board-certified in Internal Medicine and Addiction Medicine, with therapy programming guided by our Director of Clinical Services, an LMHC and LADC I with EMDR training.

Evening sessions are supported by Charles River Recovery’s licensed clinical team. Charles River Recovery offers a full continuum of care from detox through evening IOP on one campus.

What The IOP Covers For Dual Diagnosis and MAT Clients

Many people entering IOP are dealing with both substance use and mental health concerns, such as anxiety, depression, or trauma. We treat both together as part of our standard dual diagnosis approach.

Medication-Assisted Treatment is also available for opioid or alcohol use disorders, including buprenorphine and naltrexone under medical oversight. If you already have a MAT provider, our admissions or clinical team can discuss care coordination during assessment.

When trauma is part of the treatment plan, the clinical team can determine which evidence-based therapies are appropriate.

What the IOP Costs And How Insurance Works

We can verify insurance benefits before treatment starts; call with your insurance card, and we’ll help you understand your coverage. Coverage varies by plan, and many insurance plans may cover some IOP services depending on benefits and medical necessity.

We work with many major insurance providers, including Cigna, Aetna, AllWays Health Partners, Optum, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, UnitedHealthcare, ConnectiCare, Tufts Health Plan, Oxford Health Plans, and Blue Cross Blue Shield.

Payment options can be discussed with admissions when needed. Treatment costs vary by program and plan, and admissions can review the specifics with you before treatment starts.

What Charles River Recovery Reviews Before Evening IOP Admission

A phone call starts the admissions process, but a clinical assessment determines whether evening IOP is appropriate. A clinical assessment helps us decide whether IOP is the right fit, or whether detox or PHP should come first.

Evening IOP sessions are led by licensed addiction counselors and recovery specialists. Our licensed clinical team supports care across sessions. We provide integrated dual-diagnosis care when substance use and mental health concerns occur together. For most clients, both need to be addressed together.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many evenings a week is the programme, and how long are the sessions?

The evening IOP runs three evenings a week. Sessions combine group therapy, individual appointments, and clinical check-ins. The specific session length is confirmed at intake, as it’s calibrated to your treatment plan. The evening scheduling is designed to clear standard work hours; you’re not leaving midday or taking extended time off.

The evening IOP runs from our Weston campus at 75 Norumbega Road, Weston, MA 02493. In-person sessions are the standard format. The campus is a modern, purpose-built facility, not a clinical office suite. If you’re driving from Newton, the I-90 westbound from the Newton/Brighton exit takes about 12 minutes under normal evening conditions.

Yes. MAT is integrated into the evening programme for clients with opioid or alcohol use disorders. If you’re already on buprenorphine or naltrexone through another prescriber, we coordinate with them rather than asking you to switch providers. If you haven’t started MAT and it’s appropriate for your presentation, our medical team handles that within the programme.

We run dual diagnosis as standard in the evening IOP. If you’re managing anxiety, depression, trauma, or another mental health condition alongside your substance use, that’s addressed within the same programme rather than referred out separately. Our Director of Clinical Services oversees the dual diagnosis work within the IOP.

We’re in-network with most major Massachusetts commercial plans, including Cigna, Aetna, AllWays, Optum, Harvard Pilgrim, UnitedHealthcare, ConnectiCare, Tufts, Oxford, and BCBS. Benefits verification happens before treatment starts, not after. Call (844) 666-2375 with your insurance card, and we’ll confirm coverage during the first conversation.

The clinical assessment is what answers that question, not the initial call. If you’re somewhere between ‘I think IOP is right’ and ‘I might need something more intensive’, we work through that in the assessment. Evening IOP is the right fit for a lot of people, but PHP day treatment or a medical detox step first is sometimes the more honest starting point, and we’ll tell you which applies to your situation.

Three Ways To Start The Conversation

We’re available around the clock. Here’s how to start:

  • Call admissions directly: (844) 666-2375, available 24/7.
  • Use the vanity line: 617-GET-HELP.
  • Request a benefits check: call with your insurance card, and we’ll verify benefits before treatment starts. The check helps you understand your benefits and potential out-of-pocket costs before treatment starts.
