Medical

Charles River Recovery offers comprehensive medical coverage for you and your family through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and we cover 75% of the premium costs. Our plan offers many services that are available with just a copay and all preventative care is delivered at no cost. Premiums are deducted from your paycheck on a pre-tax basis, to help save you money.

Dental

Preventive care helps keep your smile bright. Our dental plan, also through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, covers two cleanings per year with 100% coverage for preventative and diagnostic care.  The dental plan also provides a $1,500 annual dental benefit for each family member. Charles River Recovery covers 75% of your dental plan premiums.

Position Overview: The Admissions Coordinator will facilitate and evaluate therapeutic, medical, and financial arrangements of incoming chemically dependent patients and/or family members.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • First point of contact for all incoming phone inquiries regarding admissions.
  • Provides telephone and in person assessments, verification of benefits and, initial contact with referral sources and potential patients.
  • Discusses financial options with patients and responds to insurance-related questions.
  • Obtains appropriate clinical and demographic information for the purpose of obtaining insurance authorization with a clinically appropriate recommendation for level of care and length of stay.
  • Schedules tours for prospective patients and their families and schedules admissions.
  • Maintains communication with potential patients, unit staff, referral sources and families, as appropriate.
  • Collaborates with nursing and RSS staff to ensure admissions are completed in a timely manner and provides appropriate orientation to program aspects for patients post admission.

Position Overview: The Receptionist assists guests efficiently, courteously, and professionally in all front desk related functions, and maintains a high standard of service and hospitality.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provides the highest quality of customer service at all times and maintains a friendly, cheerful and courteous demeanor at all times
  • Handles confidential information, including patient/guest records, with a high degree of integrity and adhering to all HIPAA and confidentiality policies
  • Answers and routes calls as appropriate, and takes messages with accuracy
  • Greets and completes established check-in procedures for arriving guests daily, using both manual and computerized methods, to ensure guests are satisfied and in rooms as requested
  • Supports Admissions with intake pre-screens for potential patients as may be necessary
  • Facilitates guest departure (check-out) daily by following established procedures to close guest accounts and open the room for the next guest
  • Regularly calculates and/or posts monies, receipts, guest accounts and other forms of credit using accurate, proper cash handling methods and established procedures to present the customer with timely and precise program charges upon check-out
  • Maintains good customer relations by keeping abreast of all in-house and area functions to answer questions and concerns with timely and knowledgeable responses, in person and on telephone

 Position Overview: Registered Nurses render professional nursing care to patients with behavioral healthcare needs. Performs total patient care assigned. Works with clinical and case management staff to coordinate care andassistwithtreatmentplans.

Administersprescribedmedications.Maintainspatients’medicalrecordson nursing observations. May assist physician during treatment and examination of patient.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Conducts intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history.
  • Plans and provides nursing care for patients.
  • Makes nursing diagnosis of the medical status of patients and recommends treatment options.
  • Consults with medical and other behavioral healthcare staff in designing appropriate treatment plans for clients.
  • Administers and notes reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications.
  • Arranges further medical attention when necessary.
  • Assists the client in understanding the nature of the disease of addiction and the need for treatment.
  • Assists in maintaining a safe and secure environment for staff and patients
  • Tests for vital signs of pain and ensures treatment of pain.
  • Documents all patient information on medical charts and follows physician’s written orders.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Runs groups as needed for patients
  • Maintains accurate records and documentation of patient treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results according to standard medical recordkeeping.
  • Provides courteous, high quality service to patients and members of the public by responding to requests for service or making appropriate referrals in a timely manner.

Charge RN responsibilities:

  • Make the assignment sheets for the shift and communicate it to staff (including staff assignment and breaks)
  • Has full responsibility for the overall community management ensuring a safe and efficient shift flow
  • During his/her shift holds staff accountable to their assignments and provides feedback and mentoring as needed
  • Accepts call out notifications from staff and follows all necessary actions/steps to find coverage and ensure unit is adequately staffed for the shift

Position Overview: The Case Manager will provide case management services and work with the clinical staff to coordinate care and assist with treatment plans for clients.


Specific Responsibilities:

  • Participate in the assessments and developments of the service plan.
  • Implements services to patients in accordance with their individualized service plan (ISP).
  • Collaborates with the patient and patient’s family or significant others to implement an effective service plan, explaining the available clinical options to the team, including the advantages and disadvantages of each option.
  • Communicates and documents patient’s progress toward their recovery.
  • Maintains the patient’s comprehensive clinical record, including documentation of activities performed as part of the service delivery process (e.g., assessments, provision of services, coordination of care, discharge planning).
  • Works collaboratively with the clinical team to engage, educate, communicate, and coordinate care with patient, their family, behavioral and general medical and dental health care providers, community resources and others to ensure that all services prescribed in the individualized service plan (ISP) are implemented.
  • Provides assistance in maintaining, monitoring and modifying covered behavioral health services.
  • Seeks out necessary resources other than covered services to meet basic needs.
  • Ensures all appropriate referrals for identified services on the service plan are made and coordinated with service providers via contracted network providers or community resources; Ensures all covered services identified on the service plan are evaluated and updated monthly

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma and minimum of one (1) year of professional experience in Behavioral Health or Psychiatric is required
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a social work field is preferred
  • Knowledge of health care, detoxification process, addiction, co-occurring disorders, DSM Criteria, and terminology.
  • Ability to read and interpret written information; write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar. Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations; listens and gets clarification; responds well to questions; demonstrates group presentation skills; and participates in meetings.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

 Position Overview: The Recovery Support Specialist assists patients with substance abuse and mental health disorders, working under direction of clinical, nursing and medical staff. This includes assisting patients with daily schedules, leading patients in educational and recreational activities, and accompanying patients to and from examinations and treatments. Supports the delivery of individual client care.

  • Understands the principles of 12-Step Programs and how they apply to the recovery process of the addicted client.
  • Aids and instructs clients in facilitation and presentation of the Clinical Curriculum with corresponding notes in medical records system.
  • Is proficient with all technology hardware, company systems and tools required to perform duties.
  • Demonstrates appropriate confidentiality at all times when interacting with patients, residents, families, visitors, referral sources, and all other contacts.

Position Overview: The Recovery Counselor provides support to enhance the quality of patient care by working directly with the patients in a treatment setting and collaboratively as a member of the program’s multi- disciplinary team. The Recovery Counselor is responsible for collaborating with the CSS clinical team with direct clinical patient care by providing support and guidance to patients to promote engagement and continuity of care. Working in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team, the Recovery Counselor will help provide a safe and therapeutic treatment experience for the patients served.

Specific Responsibilities:
  • Provides direct support to patients by providing 1-to-1 support sessions and/or facilitates groups as scheduled/assigned
  • Completes patient assessments assigned daily within specified timelines and ensures quality of documentation
  • Engages patients by conducting recovery-oriented activities as scheduled
  • Supports the community to intervene with treatment engagement; works to de-escalate treatment barriers
  • Facilitates patient engagement and re-engagement sessions as needed
  • Participates in AA blocking as per Clinical and Primary Therapists guidance
  • Provides direct support to patients to help encourage, engage, plan, and complete continuity of care plans while collaborating with patient’s treatment team
  • Supports the clinical/case management team as directed by the Clinical Supervisor/ Clinical Coordinator
  • Appropriately documents all patient interaction into the record for continuity of care
  • Responsible of visitation hours and patient supervision during those hours
  • Provides support in family sessions as assigned
  • Provides support to the Recovery Support Specialists as needed to ensure effective community management (ex. patient monitoring, smoke breaks, etc.)
  • Driving duties related to patient care may apply when needed

Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree from an accredited college or university in behavioral health science preferred; LADC or CADC certification is highly preferred
  • High school diploma/GED required
  • 1 year experience in the field of substance use treatment or closely related field

Position Overview: The Medication Technician’s primary purpose is to administer prescribed medications to patients and maintains related medical records under supervision of Nurse General Duty.

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Deliver routine daily medications, either prescription or non-prescription, to patients.
  • Coordinate with different nurses to assist with patient care and medications.
  • Follow written or verbal instructions on how to manage medications.
  • Record medication dosages and times.
  • Gather samples for analysis.
  • Ensure equipment is routinely inspected and cleaned.
  • Uphold all health and safety standards.
  • Respond to patient emergency call signals, bells, or intercom systems to identify patient needs.
  • Present medication to patient and observed ingestion or other application, or administered medication, using specified procedures.
  • Take vital signs or observed patient to detect response to specified types of medications and prepared report or notified designated personnel of unexpected reactions. Observe patients and document changes in their condition.
  • Recorded and restocked medication inventories.
Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or relevant qualification
  • Must be a certified medication aide.
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as a medication aide.
  • Able to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Good understanding of medical and pharmacological terminology.
