Intensive Outpatient Program for Lincoln Residents

When weekly therapy is not enough but residential treatment feels too disruptive, it can be hard to know what comes next.

Our Evening IOP gives Lincoln residents structured addiction treatment three evenings a week at our Weston campus. We provide group therapy, individual support, psychiatric care, and dual diagnosis treatment when needed.

Why do Lincoln residents reach out at this point?

Lincoln residents may contact us after something has shifted. You may have tried cutting back, spoken with a doctor or therapist, or noticed that control has started to slip. At that point, weekly therapy may not be enough, but inpatient treatment may feel like too much.

Our Evening IOP fits that middle ground. Clients attend three evenings a week at our Weston campus while continuing work, family, and daily responsibilities. The program offers structured clinical care, a consistent group, and a consistent treatment team.

What happens inside our Evening IOP

We run Evening IOP three nights a week at our Weston campus. Each session includes structured group therapy, with individual therapy and psychiatric support scheduled alongside the program.

We use CBT to address thought patterns linked to substance use and DBT to build emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and relapse-prevention skills.

Individual therapy is part of the program, not a separate referral. Our clinicians and psychiatric team coordinate around one treatment plan. When medication management or medication-assisted treatment is clinically appropriate, it may be included within the same program.

We begin with an admissions consultation and clinical assessment before placement. We complete a clinical assessment first to decide whether IOP is the right fit, or whether PHP or another level of care should come first.

The clinical and medical team behind the IOP

The clinical team includes licensed addiction counselors, a licensed mental health counselor, and board-certified psychiatric support. Jillian Martin, our Director of Clinical Services, holds both LADC I and LMHC licensure and has over fifteen years in behavioral healthcare, including a decade in executive clinical leadership. Care is coordinated across the treatment team, not presented as dependent on a single named clinician.

Dr. Alrakawi provides medical oversight. He has practiced clinical medicine for over thirty years and brings academic rigor from his faculty role at Harvard Medical School and his attending work at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. His background supports care for medically complex presentations, including dual diagnosis cases where substance use and mental health conditions need to be addressed together.

For Lincoln residents, outpatient care can be practical because Charles River Recovery is located in nearby Weston. Clients do not have to pause work, step away from family life, or manage the disruption of residential treatment when structured outpatient care is clinically appropriate.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many evenings a week is the programme?

The evening IOP runs three evenings a week at our Weston campus. Sessions are structured group therapy with individual therapy and psychiatric support scheduled alongside the group cadence. The three-evening structure is designed to fit around work, school, or family responsibilities without residential displacement.

The clinical program runs in person at our Weston campus. In-person care keeps clients connected with the clinical team and peer group. Call admissions to confirm whether any remote options are available for your level of care.

Yes. Our dual diagnosis program addresses substance use disorder and co-occurring mental health conditions simultaneously. The psychiatric and clinical teams coordinate on one plan. Dual diagnosis cases are a significant part of what we see.

The clinical assessment before admission is designed to catch this. If we assess you and conclude that PHP or residential detox would set you up better, we will tell you. We run a continuum that includes detoxification, residential treatment, day treatment, and Evening Treatment on the Weston campus, so moving to a more intensive level of care does not mean starting over with a new provider.
